Common questions

The app says Bluetooth is off or not allowed

Turn on Bluetooth in Settings > Bluetooth. Then open The Blind Traveler and allow Bluetooth when asked. If you have already said no, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Bluetooth, find The Blind Traveler, and turn it on.

The app does not find any beacons

The app can only place you in spaces where beacons are installed. Check that you are in a venue or building that uses them. Make sure Bluetooth is on, and that you are close enough to the beacons for them to be heard. Beacons are not available everywhere, so the app cannot guide you in a place without them.

Distance readings jump around or lag

Open the app's Fine Tuning settings. Smoothing and update speed can be adjusted there. Walking steadily and holding the phone still while you listen also helps the readings settle.

I cannot hear the voice, or it sounds like a different voice

The app uses a generated voice when it has a connection, and falls back to your phone's built-in voice when it does not. If you hear a different voice than you expect, check the voice settings in the app and try again when you have a stronger connection. Make sure your phone is not muted and that the volume is up.

Location

The app asks for location so it can guide you indoors and at venues. You can change this at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services. The app works best with Location set to "While Using the App" or "Always," as the app asks.

How do I delete my data?

Delete the app from your phone to remove the data it stores on the device. To ask us to remove data we hold on our servers, email support@audiopaths.com with your iPhone model and roughly when you used the app, so we can find your records. The privacy policy explains what we keep and for how long.

Accessibility feedback

If something is hard to use with VoiceOver, Voice Control, Larger Text, or any other iPhone accessibility feature, please tell us. Describe the screen, what you tried, and what you heard or saw. Your feedback helps us fix it for everyone who uses the app.
